Built for renters.
By someone who rents.

FairRent is a free set of tools for everyday Australians navigating the rental market — and figuring out how to eventually buy their own place.

Why FairRent exists

Australian renters are often the least informed people in a transaction. Landlords have agents, data, and years of experience. Renters have Google and hope.

FairRent levels that up. Every tool is built on real data and current tenancy law — plain language, no jargon, no advice fees, no sign-up required.

Who's behind this

FairRent is built and operated as a registered sole trader business by Ajinkya Chavan — a Senior Project Manager, rentvestor, and the voice behind @Ask_Ajinkya on Instagram.

The Instagram page has been sharing practical, no-fluff content on Australian renting, investing and cost of living since 2024. FairRent is the tools version of that content — interactive, personalised, and always free.

What the tools cover

For renters — Affordability checker · Rent increase notice validity · Repairs rights · Bond deductions guide · Lease break cost estimator
For aspiring buyers — Borrowing capacity · Deposit gap calculator · Rent vs Buy comparison · PPOR cashflow impact · Rentvest reality check · First home buyer grants guide

The legal bit

All tools are general information only — not legal, financial, or tax advice. Data is updated periodically. Always verify with your state's tenancy authority and speak to a licensed professional before making major financial decisions. See the Terms & Disclaimer for full details.
